OPI Sheer Tints Nail Art

Not only do I spend a lot of my time working on my blog, but I also read a ton of other blogs!  And what’s a giant reward for all that time spent?  WINNING GIVEAWAYS!

I was lucky enough to recently win a set of mini Sheer Tints by OPI from Polished PR.  Thanks Jenn! I was super-psyched when I found out that I won (I also got a new Gwen Stefani kit) because I loved loved loved the idea of the sheer tints- they seem perfect for a nail art addict like me.  So here’s what I came up with using my mini tints!

I started with a Sally Hansen base coat, two coats of white Zoya Purity, then I applied the color-tinted top coats in a rainbow design. I used the little bottle brush from the mini bottle (no special tools) and did one swipe of each color.  I like where the teal and purple overlap to make a nice blue-ish purple hue.

These sheer tints are fun and the options are endless.  I wonder if OPI plans to make more shades!?!  Has anyone heard any rumors about that ?

Blue rain waterfall mani for #NAILLINKUP

This week’s prompt for Nail Art Ideas Linkup is RAIN.  I was racking my brain on this theme.  I could not figure out what to do- massive creativity block!  Luckily Kairi gave me the idea to do a waterfall mani.  That’s perfect since I’ve never tried this technique before.

rain_waterfall_nails I used The Nailasaurus’ tutorial right here.  I also added some raindrop shaped rhinestones that I got at a Harmon store.  I like the added touch of the drops.

I don’t feel like typing out all the blue polishes I used.  But I’ll tell ya that my white base is Zoya Purity.  With one coat I got awesome coverage!  That’s shocking for a white.  The formula is a little weird- I think it will probably get really nice and stringy if you ever wanna do a sugar spun mani though.  But even still, it’s nice and opaque.  I just decided that I might use Purity all the time for nail art now when I want a white base color.  I used to use OPI’s Alpine Snow all the time.  But sometimes I had to use 3 coats and I don’t have the patience for that!  3 coats is normally fine for me… but not when it’s just my base color and I plan to do a bunch more nail art on top.  Time is of the essence ladies, so I’m gonna use my Purity for nail art from now on.  Then again, I go through phases, so next month I may have a new fave white!

Anywho, I hope you like my rainy waterfall nails.  Check out the other NAILLINKUP nails right here:

Monarch Butterfly Wings Nail Art

I did my girlfriend’s nails last night- it was a fun and relaxing way to spend a friday night!  I had the idea to do monarch butterfly wings.  Which is kinda funny considering the first time I tried that technique was almost exactly one year ago (seen here).  I guess the beginning of spring must make me think of butterflies!

Her base color is OPI Live.Love.Carnival.. Then we sponged some Butter London Snog (raspberry) on to the tips to give the color more dimension.  The black was painted on with a striper brush and China Glaze Liquid Leather.  We used Zoya Purity for white dots.  We also added some flakies (Zoya Chloe) to add sparkle, but unfortunately the pics don’t show it.  But in real like the flakies add a hint of magic to this springtime manicure. 🙂

I think Vanessa loved her nails!  I sure do.   Next time I’d like to try this with duochrome polishes- I bet it would mimic the iridescent effect that you see on bugs in nature.

Enjoy your weekend, talk soon ! 🙂
