Masquerade Nails

No, I don’t have plans to go to a masquerade ball.  But if I did- these would be the nails to wear!  I did a halfmoon design using this lovely maroon polish called Masquerade Ball by Confetti.  I love this polish because it sorta reminds me of German-icure by OPI (which I don’t own so I’m happy to have this quasi-dupe!)  I left my nail bare under the halfmoon to get this cute ‘peekaboo’ look.  Peekaboo- here’s a little bit of skin!  In a way, it kinda reminds me of masquerades… where you only get a tiny peek of what the person looks like under their mask 🙂

To give the mani some more party-appeal I added some Sephora by OPI Only Gold For Me glitter topcoat. I haven’t tried this gold over a dark color before.  I think it looks lush!  Then I added a few gold studs to top it off.  For my accent finger I dug some of my gold glitter out of the sephora bottle and stuck them on with a dotting tool (using my DIY glequin technique).  I really like the accent nail with it’s extra flash of skin !

Check back to my blog later today!  Brijit and Eeeek and I will be posting all the details of our July nail art challenge!  We have pics of the prizes and you’ll find out the fun themes for all 31 days!   In case you are wondering about the prizes— prize winners will be selected at random.  We are not judgey!  But the more days you participate in July, the better your chance of winning the rafflecopter. I really hope we are able to gather some bloggers from other platforms too.  The more, the merrier!  The three of us are so excited and we hope you join our challenge.  We have been working on this for months and the anticipation is killing us!!  I’m so ready for it to be July.  I can’t wait for the nail art extravaganza to begin!  Stay tuned for all the deets!!

Butler Please

I was recently at Sephora hovering around the nail polish display and I discovered the most beautiful blue I’ve ever seen- Illamasqua Cameo.  I tested it out and I fell in love with it, but I could not justify spending $14.00 on one bottle of polish!  Craftynail is way too thrifty for that!  So I hit up the nearest beauty supply store to find myself a cheaper dupe.  I came across Essie Butler Please and I think I paid less than $4.00 for it with my coupon!  After getting home and applying it I realized it’s not at all a dupe for the pricey Illamasqua!  The Essie is much darker and dried to a blotchy semi-matte finish.  The two coats did dry quick though (which is always a bonus)… so then I taped my tips off with painters tape and added some Sephora by OPI topcoat called Only Gold For Me.  Even though the Essie formula was not my fave, there’s nothing that some sparkles and a healthy topcoat of Seche Vite can’t fix!   I really love the regal look of this gold and royal blue together!   Apparently so does my mom- she came over tonight and asked me to paint her nails this color too… so now we are nail twinny twins!
