I still haven’t tried free-hand painting flying bats. And I sorta wanted to do some vampire fangs dripping with blood. I guess there’s always next year!

It’s getting close to halloween and there’s no shortage of halloween nail art in wordpress land! Lacquered by BlueVanilla blog is running a ten day halloween nail art extravaganza filled with spooky designs and guest posts. They asked me to share one of my halloween manicures with them, and I was more than happy to oblige. I did some super fun sugar spun mummy nails and I just love how they came out! For this nail art I hand-painted spiders and webs on 4 fingers using a skinny nail art brush. On the other fingers I used the RUFFLE technique (see Chalkboard Nails’ dandy ruffle tutorial here) using the largest dotting tool I could find. Believe me, you’ll want to make big dots or you’ll be sitting there forever dotting and dotting until your mind slips away into halloween madness. I counted my little dots and there’s 164 dots on one hand. So 328 altogether! The last time I did ruffles I used a bigger dotting tool and it seemed to go much quicker, so save yourself the hassle and make BIG DOTS!

We’ve simplified things a bit for October. We won’t be utilizing the VOTING tool any longer… so no more crowning a NAIL GENIUS each week. Sure, we all voted on a bunch of amazing manis, and it was so much fun while it lasted, but we don’t want you to feel like this is a competition or anything! Just a great way to share our designs with each other! Plus, simpler is better, don’t you think? With that in mind, our themes will not close at the end of each week either. You may remember that you previously needed to submit your nail art within a 7 day period or the linkz would close. Well, not anymore! All 5 inlinkz will be open all month. This way you have flexibility with your submissions. The dates for each week are now simply suggested dates- so go ahead and post when you can. Easy, right?
Did you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month? That brings us to the first NAIL theme of October!
