Clover Accent Nails

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  I know I’m getting older because I now associate this holiday with eating instead of drinking.  Yup, a free corned beef dinner at mom and dads sounds better than a crowded bar.  I live in a college town and it’s spring break right now so most of the students are gone.  If I went out, I would probably feel at home since the places would be filled with my fellow ‘townies’ instead of young’ens.  But, it’s likely I’ll eat a nice family dinner, do my 30 day ab challenge exercises and call it a night.  OMG, I have to say… my ab challenge is getting so hard!  Here’s what I have to do.  I’m up to 75 situps, 100 crunches, 42 lower ab/leg raises and 65 seconds of plank today.  Phew!  I have to break it up into two workouts per day now… cuz 75 situps at once is a killer!  Enough whining! Let’s look at my st patrick’s day nails…

I’m wearing AVON Don’t be Jaded as my base color.  Yes, I wore it yesterday too for my other st paddys design.  I’ve noticed a weird pattern that I follow- if I get a new cream polish I like to wear it a few times right away.  It kinda makes me feel bad if I get a lovely new polish, only try it once, then put it on a shelf and forget about it.  I like to cherish my new bottles and use them a lot so they know they are loved.  If inanimate objects have feelings I like to think that my polish bottles are happy and feel appreciated. 🙂  Weird?  Yes, but that’s why you like me!

I also sponged some army green Ulta nail polish on my tips too, but you probably can’t tell since the colors blend well together.  Then I added a coat of a Pretty Woman glitter topper.  I’ve never tried Pretty Woman brand before.  I picked it up at Rite Aid recently and I think the name of this one is GREEN.  Very original huh? 🙂  I like that there’s a variety of glitter sizes in there… glitters like that tend to spread well for me.  I only needed one coat and I got some nice even glitter coverage with it.

I also decorated my ring fingers as accent nails.  Maybe you recognize my clovers ?  They are some of the diy decals that I hand-painted over the weekend in this post.  I stuck my clover decals on and then slathered some Seche Vite topcoat over top.  Like always, I love the the nice smooth finish and quick-dry shine that I get from my bff Seche!

Do your nail polishes have feelings too? Or is it only mine?

Tassel Nails for Eva’s Nail Art Contest

Eva from Fight of Whimsy is having a nail art contest giveaway and here’s my entry!

tassel nail art for eva's nail art contest

The only rules of the contest are that you must have ONLY nail polish on your finished design.  No rhinestones, acrylic paints, nook nailsdecals, etc.  That works for me since I mostly use polish for my nail art anyway!  For first step was to pick a color scheme.  I was laying in bed thinking about it, and I went to turn on my Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet.  While it was booting up the Nook logo appeared on the screen in the perfect color combo!  Here’s the four polishes I chose based on my nook inspiration:

light green ♥ Ulta Limelight

dark green ♥ Essence  Deep Sea, Baby

blue ♥ Revlon Blue Slate

yellowy/taupe ♥ China Glaze Kalahari Kiss

After I chose my four colors I did not come up with a plan like I normally do.  This time I decided to ‘wing it’ since some of my best work comes from no planning.  I created the cool V shape which looked great, but I thought it still needed something.  And then came the tassels!  I have no idea, it just popped into my head.

I really enjoyed my tassel manicure.  And that light green Ulta polish wore like armor!!  I had this mani on from last Sunday til today (Saturday) with no chips.  6 days…like, dang!  My polish doesn’t normally last that long.  I only took it off today in preparation of my eclipse mani for the N.AI.L. linkup.  I love this shiny green polish- Go Ulta!  And thanks to Eva for holding this contest!  Without her contest I never would’ve ended up wearing a cool mani like this, especially for 6 days straight. 🙂

Wish me luck in the nail art contest!  The contest ends on Nov 3rd, 2013…. so you still have a little time left if you decide to enter!  Here’s all the details on the Flight of Whimsy of blog.

Lime Green Retro Dots

lickety_split_lime_retro_dots

I felt like something real funky today so I grabbed my Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in Lickety-Split Lime.  This polish has a retro feel- it kinda reminds me of the ugly wallpaper that was in my kitchen when I was a child!  I added some dots in Zoya Jacqueline (cream), AVON Inspire (yellow), and AVON Orange Creamsicle (orange).  Then I dotted some lime green over top of those dots for fun.  I like the effect of the double-dots.  My nails look like they’re right out of the 70’s!  I feel ready to attend a Tupperware party! lol

I used some Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Fast Dry Topcoat when I was done and I’m regretting it.  I haven’t used that quick-dry topper in a few months so I couldn’t really remember if it was any good or not.  UGH!  It ended up being goopy and bubbly.  Maybe I should add some Seche Restore because this topcoat is currently not one of my faves!  It also didn’t dry that fast because half an hour later I got a big smoosh on one of my nails.  Boo!

I may not post nail art for a couple days since I will be doing a review of my new NCLA Nail Wraps that were sent to me by Nail Polish Canada!  Yay!  I’ve never tried wraps before and I want to do an honest review where I show pics of the wraps after a few days wear.  Yippee!  I want to apply them right now but I really should get to work.  It’s monday afterall 😦

Til next time!
