Rival de Loop Perfect Pinky

Today I’m showing you a lovely polish that I won from luchessa.org!  Luchessa mailed it to me all the way from Germany so this polish is totally unique in my stash!  It’s called Rival de Loop Perfect Style Effect Nail Color in Perfect Pinky.  Even though the name suggest it’s pink, it also has nice purple tinge to it.  So I layered it over a purple OPI to really play up the violet tones….

Shown here is…

♥ Sally Hansen Maximum Growth – one coat as a base coat

♥ OPI Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI – two coats as my purple base color

♥ Rival de Loop Perfect Pinky – one coat as a special effect topper

purple painted studs – for fun!

Isn’t it gorgeous!?!?!  I also tried Perfect Pinky on its own- it needed four coats for opacity and it looked totally different!  It had an almost rhubarb-colored pinkish purplish tone with tons of copper shimmer.  It’s so pretty any way you wear it though- by itself or as a topper.  I’m so thankful I won this bottle- thanks Luchessa!

Have you ever tried this brand Rival de Loop?

Day 24 of OMD Challenge- Multicolored Mani

Hi to all the nail fans out there!  I’m excited for day 24 of our challenge because the theme is INSPIRED BY A TUTORIAL!  I follow a lot of blogs and I’ve see so many great nail art tutorials- there’s no lack of inspiration for today’s theme!  Do you follow the Polish Alcoholic?  I always think of her as the ‘Queen Bee’ of WordPress nail blogs!  She was also the VERY FIRST blogger to follow my blog when I started blogging 9 months ago.  So naturally, today’s design was inspired by the sweet and sassy Polish Alcoholic.  Check out her tutorial that inspired my mani:  Blue Manicure for Autism

I chose 6 rich colors for this mani:

Blue ♥ Sweet Peacock by Orly

Green ♥ Garden Green by AVON

Silver ♥ Bring on the Snowflakes by Sephora by OPI

Black ♥ Smoke and Ashes by China Glaze

Gold ♥ Golden-I by Sally Hansen

Purple ♥ Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI by OPI

I’ll have to ask the Polish Alcoholic what the name is for this technique.  I just love it and I think it needs to be a real official ‘thing’.  Everyone needs to try this one out!  You don’t need special tools to create these scales- this one is considered a ‘bottle brush’ design!  What do you think?  Are you tempted to try it?

Funky Fingers Mood Ring and panel nail art

I was lucky enough to win In The Gray Area’s 300 follower giveaway!  How exciting!  And I’m so grateful!  Today I’m sharing one of the polishes I received in my nail mail package.  It’s called Mood Ring by Funky Fingers.  I love it!  I wore this for 24hrs and got a bunch of random compliments on it.  It’s kinda funny that strangers don’t comment on my nail art… they usually only compliment me when I’m wearing a solid color.  Hope that doesn’t mean that my nail art sucks lol!

A day later I wanted to spice up my mood ring manicure… so I went with some boxes that I call ‘panels’.  I don’t know… they need a name, so panels sounds good enough.  Last time I did my PINK PANELS they were pretty popular so I figured I’d give it another go.  For this design I chose colors that usually show up when I wear a real mood ring:  blue, purple and green.  I used a dotting tool and China Glaze First Mate (blue), Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI? (purple), and Sally Hansen Emerald City (green).  I didn’t take as much care when doing this design since last time it took foreverrrrr….  so I worked quickly and here’s the results….

The panels aren’t too symmetrical- but it still looks cool and I like the color combo.  I can’t wait to try my other polishes that I won in the giveaway!

Rainbow Nails

The theme today is RAINBOWS!  It’s day 7 of the 30 Day Nail Challenge for April and I’m happy to use a bunch of polishes all at once!  My AVON order just came in this week so I’m psyched to try out my new yellow, green and blue!  Here’s what I used for this nail art:

Zoya Carmen

AVON Orange Creamsicle

AVON Inspire

AVON Garden Green

AVON Forget-Me-Not Blue

OPI Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI?

NYC Black Lace (and a striper brush to apply the accents)

Hope you’re all having a great weekend!  My weekend has officially plateaued- now that my nails are done I really need to start preparing my federal taxes.  What a downer!

Ruffle Nail Art

I’m so excited about this nail art technique called Ruffle Nails! Every nail fanatic needs to try this- it’s easy and has lots of wow factor.  All you need to do is grab your favorite polish shades and a dotting tool (or bobby pins) to make some over-lapping rows of dots (it helps to use the largest tool you can find so the dots aren’t too small).  If you’d like to see a step-by step tutorial here’s a great one by Chalkboard Nails.  Now that I’ve discovered ruffles- I’ve got all these ideas swimming around in my head- neon ruffles, rainbow ruffles, black n white ruffles…  I want to try them all!

My first attempt came out much so better than I expected!  I casually worked on this design while sitting on the couch and I honestly didn’t try too hard.   I figured I’d end up taking it off with polish remover and then give it a real go later.  Well, I couldn’t believe how cute my test mani came out so I took some pics!  I used some of my favorite green and purple polishes here… and I think the matte topcoat really pulled it together nicely.  The variety of colors and the satin finish made my fingertips look like fimo clay! ↓

I went with a cool color combo of blue, pink and grey for my second design. ↓

One thing I like about the ruffle technique is that it’s so easy, you can even do a great job on your ‘other’ hand!  I’m right-handed so my left hand nail art usually looks good, and my right-hand comes out how should I say… non-photogenic? LOL.   Well, not with ruffles!    Try it out for yourself and let me know your results!

purple dream giveaway entry

I’m entering a polish giveaway that Luchessa is offering!  Her blog post entitled New Purple Dream Giveaway explains it all.  Basically to enter the contest I must post a purple nail design … and on Jan 21st the random winner will be announced.  Thank you to Luchessa for the chance to win!  Here’s the purple design I came up with….

purple_dream_giveaway

I enjoyed using all purple polishes!  Who doesn’t love purple?  In real life this mani sorta has a 70’s free-love hippie feel.  Here’s the colors I used along with a makeup sponge and a dotting tool:

♥ OPI- Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI? as the base

♥ Sephora by OPI- It’s Hippo To Be Square for the sponged area

♥ Wet n Wild Megalast- Through the Grapevine as the flower petals

♥ Sephora by OPI- I Don’t Bite as the center of the flower

Good luck to all the other entrants!
