Nail art earrings and other stuff!

Remember when I showed you those little wooden pendants my dad made me?? Here they are pictured on the left.  IMG_1560Well, I finally painted them with nail polish!   I like to call them my nail art earrings. 🙂  I painted them using all Essie winter shearling colors and I also used a bunch of easy nail art techniques.

  • I painted them in three Essie colors
  • then used a dotting tool to do some dots on one side
  • used my MoYou stamping stamper and pro plate to decorate the other side
  • swept on some clear polish and placed a line of rhinestones
  • then I finished it with a coat of sally hansen topcoat

essie earringsIn case you are laughing at them, yeah I know.  They’re a little ‘busy’.  But in my defense, I wanted to try different nail art stuff on them … it’s my first nail polish & jewelry experiment!  They came out cool and it was a lot of crafty fun.  I def wanna do this again!  If you don’t have pendants like the ones I used then maybe you can find some earrings laying around that might work.  Or maybe the dollar store near you has some cheapo flat earrings that could use a fresh layer of nail polish!

This was a fun project for me, especially since I can’t paint my nails right now.  I am actually wearing some Incoco collage 3french manicure nail strips right now and I wanna see how long they last. I am loving them.  They look so great!  Here’s a sneak peek!  What a perfect french mani, right?  They are wearing really well.  No signs of chipping yet and I’m on day 6!  So in lieu of painting my nails for 6 days… I painted some earrings!  Oh, and I also made some diy nail decals using some of my cheeky and moyou stamping plates.  They came out so cute!  I made little yellow happy faces, multi-colored hearts, and little teddy bears!  Hopefully I can play with them soon.  I also have some news for my giveaways…..

Nike nails for #NAILLINKUP

It’s week 1 of January Nail Art Ideas Linkup!  The theme is HEALTH & WELLNESS.  Check me out!

When it comes to being healthy I’m a big proponent of exercise.  If I’m trying to lose weight (and when am I NOT trying? lol) I always amp up my fitness routine.  I know it’s hard to get motivated, but you just have to do it.  I totally agree with Nike- JUST DO IT.  Grab your sneakers and get moving.  For me, group fitness classes are the way to go!  Gyms always schedule their classes, so at the start of the week I tell myself which ones I’m planning on attending… and then I feel accountable.  I said I’m going, so I hafta go!

Check out how my nails match my new nike sneakers….

nikenailartI love the way my pinky and thumb came out.  I’m totally gonna have to try the dots-over-a-gradient-look again!

Here’s what I’m wearing-

♥ Sally Hansen Maximum Growth – one coat as a basecoat

♥ Liquid Leather by China Glaze – two coats for a black base color

♥ Alpine Snow by OPI – sponged onto the tips for a white gradient

♥ Dream On by Sinful Colors – for the fuchsia nail art accents

Lime Green Retro Dots

lickety_split_lime_retro_dots

I felt like something real funky today so I grabbed my Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in Lickety-Split Lime.  This polish has a retro feel- it kinda reminds me of the ugly wallpaper that was in my kitchen when I was a child!  I added some dots in Zoya Jacqueline (cream), AVON Inspire (yellow), and AVON Orange Creamsicle (orange).  Then I dotted some lime green over top of those dots for fun.  I like the effect of the double-dots.  My nails look like they’re right out of the 70’s!  I feel ready to attend a Tupperware party! lol

I used some Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Fast Dry Topcoat when I was done and I’m regretting it.  I haven’t used that quick-dry topper in a few months so I couldn’t really remember if it was any good or not.  UGH!  It ended up being goopy and bubbly.  Maybe I should add some Seche Restore because this topcoat is currently not one of my faves!  It also didn’t dry that fast because half an hour later I got a big smoosh on one of my nails.  Boo!

I may not post nail art for a couple days since I will be doing a review of my new NCLA Nail Wraps that were sent to me by Nail Polish Canada!  Yay!  I’ve never tried wraps before and I want to do an honest review where I show pics of the wraps after a few days wear.  Yippee!  I want to apply them right now but I really should get to work.  It’s monday afterall 😦

Til next time!
