Pastel Peacock Nail Art using OPI Sheer Tints

Here’s another great way to use your OPI Sheer Tints…

collage_Fotor

Start with a white or light neutral base color.  Then do some nail stamping over top.   When that’s dry, light sweep some OPI Sheer Tints over top of your stamps to get this awesome effect!  One of the cool things about Sheer Tints is that they are so translucent you really don’t need to be neat or accurate when you apply them.  Yet the finished product makes people go “hmmmm how did you do that?”

OPI Sheer Tints Nail Art

Not only do I spend a lot of my time working on my blog, but I also read a ton of other blogs!  And what’s a giant reward for all that time spent?  WINNING GIVEAWAYS!

I was lucky enough to recently win a set of mini Sheer Tints by OPI from Polished PR.  Thanks Jenn! I was super-psyched when I found out that I won (I also got a new Gwen Stefani kit) because I loved loved loved the idea of the sheer tints- they seem perfect for a nail art addict like me.  So here’s what I came up with using my mini tints!

I started with a Sally Hansen base coat, two coats of white Zoya Purity, then I applied the color-tinted top coats in a rainbow design. I used the little bottle brush from the mini bottle (no special tools) and did one swipe of each color.  I like where the teal and purple overlap to make a nice blue-ish purple hue.

These sheer tints are fun and the options are endless.  I wonder if OPI plans to make more shades!?!  Has anyone heard any rumors about that ?

St. Patrick’s Day Nails for #NAILLINKUP

st paddys day mix mani

This is my St.Patty’s design for the N.A.I.L. Linkup! I loved brainstorming about which green polishes to incorporate into this design to make it look Irish.  I freakin love green nail polish.  Here’s what I’m wearing:  The dark green is Zoya Ivanka.  I’ve only worn it once before so I was happy to try it out again.  What a gorgeous foil green!

The light green is a new AVON quick dry polish that I ordered from my avon lady called Don’t Be Jaded.  It was in the outlet catalog for $1.99! Like seriously!  My mom picked up a bottle too and she texted me a cute nail pic this AM (it was her jade green nails with a sudoku game as her backgrdrop)  LOL. Her text said that she painted her nails with Don’t be Jaded on thursday. Today is sunday and it’s still holding up.  Yes, this is why we love AVON.  And green is my mom’s fave nail polish color too so we be happy!

Do you like my giant gold glitters on my thumb and pinky?  They kinda remind me of gold coins at the end of the rainbow. It’s OPI’s When Monkeys Fly! which I dabbed on and also had to pick and place some of the glitters too.  I also did a rainbow dotted nail using a dotting tool and a bunch of random polishes.  Then I placed some gold studs on my Zoya fingers, added some seche vite, and now I have a fun mix mani for St. Patrick’s Day!  It was relatively quick and easy.

I’d love to see your St Patrick’s mani too.  Here are the inlinkz so you can enter a N.A.I.L. pic for March-

My OPI Brazil Collection

I’m not the type of girl to run out and buy a new nail polish collection when it first gets released.  But there was something about the OPI Brazil collection that really called to me.  I couldn’t stop thinking about those bright tropical colors until I finally broke down and drove to the beauty supply store!  Good thing that store is a half hour out of my way.  If it was right in my town I would be penniless and drowning in OPI!

Even though I got a great deal on these, I’m not a big spender- so I only picked my four favorites from the collection.  All swatches are with no base coat, two coats of OPI, and no topcoat.  They are all shiny even without topcoat.

First is AmazON…AmazOFF.  This a deep dark teal with a slight shimmer running through it.  I was surprised how good this one looks on me.  Might be my favorite of the bunch.  However, I did get a bum brush.  I swear, if there’s a bad brush in the lot, it will find it’s way to me every time! I snipped the stray bristle with small scissors and now it works okay.

Next up is a neutral shade called Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around.  For some reason I want to call it Don’t Bossa Me Nova, but oh well!  It’s a nice opaque shade for nail art, I’m sure I’ll be using this one a lot.  It’s similar to My Vampire is Buff, only a little darker.  However, Don’t Bossa is a two-coater, so I might start using it in place of My Vampire from now on!

This yellow shade is the one I was lemming after-  I Just Can’t Cope-acabana. What a crazy name, and considering that I’ve been a ball of stress lately … this one is fun for me!  Plus, I love to sample yellows out.  It’s like my personal mission to try out all the yellows to find the best ones, preferably two-coaters.  Hmmm I wonder if there are any one-coaters out there?  Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Jacqui!  But…. I Just Can’t Cope has quickly moved to the top of my yellow favorites list.  It’s a vibrant and creamy two-coater with a good formula.

Last but not least is a super bright coral called Live.Love.Carnaval.  The formula on this one seemed a little chalkier than the others.. maybe because it’s borderline neon.  I actually messed one finger up and had to do it again.  Not sure what happened with that.  But still, I love how eye-catching it is…. it’s almost red, almost pink, but mostly coral, and very sexy!

OPI Brazilian Floral Nail Art

I recently picked up 4 polishes from the new OPI Brazil Collection.  Swatches coming soon!  But first, I’m super excited to show you some floral nail art that combines all four of my new brazils!

STAMPING- OPI Chevron for #NAILLINKUP

stamped OPI chevron

This is my first Nail Art Ideas Linkup design for the month of March.  I’m excited for the themes we have this month!  Especially AQUA for some reason . 😀

The theme for week 1 is STAMPING so I reachedbm 423 plate for my new Bundle Monster set!  I finally got the Create Your Own 2013 set that I’ve been lusting after.  I’m so excited to use them all!  For this easy chevron I used plate BM-423.

I’ve never done a traditional chevron using little pieces of zig zaggy tape or anything.  I’ve always felt like if I tried I would screw it up!  Me and tape don’t always get along.  So using a stamping plate instead was the perfect solution for me! I generally have good luck with stamping.

Besides my bundle monster plate, I used three different OPIs for this manicure. I like how the different colors coordinate and clash all at the same time for a cool 80’s vibe.  Here’s what I’m wearing:

♥ Did It On ‘Em ♥ Elephantastic Pink ♥ Haven’t the Foggiest

Snowfetti Sandwich

I distinctly remember trying to make a wintery jelly sandwich this same time last year. It was right after the holidays, early 2013, and I tried probably 4 different white jelly sandwiches (all of which were complete fails and they never made it to the blog)!  But in the last year I’ve accumulated a few (ahem) new polishes… so let’s try it again!

I wanted my jelly sandwich to be white, shimmery, and with some slight multi-colored glitter effect to look like snowflakes.  Let’s see what I came up with…

snowy jelly sandwich mani It has many layers (8 layers to be exact), but I love it!  I will call this my snowfetti sandwich.  It also pairs perfectly with the winter weather advisory that we’re having in upstate NY right now!

Here’s what I’m wearing…

♥ Sally Hansen Maximum Strength (one coat) as my base coat

♥ OPI Alpine Snow (one coat) as my white base color

♥ Funky Fingers Jawbreaker (one coat) for some colored glitter w/a creamy base

♥ Wet n Wild Megalast Break The Ice as a sheer white topper (three coats)

♥ OPI Lights of Emerald City (one coat) for some fun square glitter on top

♥ Seche Vite topcoat (one coat)

I just love Lights of Emerald City by OPI!  It’s probably my favorite glitter topper ever!  My boyfriend’s mom got it for me for my birthday over the summer and I’ve worn it three times so far on the blog.  The square glitters in there are so unique, and the fact they’re white helps soften them so they blend perfectly into your manis.  I hope OPI keeps making glitters like this one!

A quick FYI… the January Nail Art Ideas Linkup themes are coming out real soon!  So keep your eyes peeled for the announcement!  The January N.A.I.L. linkup will start Jan 5th 2014.
