Today I’ve got a funky manicure for you- I like to call it my ‘underside mani’ where I paint the underside of my nails. I’ve done this look before with studs and Louboutin-style… but never with hand-painted nail art! Today’s the day to try that!
For this look I started with a couple coats of L.A. Girl Black Illusion on top and underneath my nail tip. This encapsulated my nails so they looked black from every direction. 🙂 Then I painted some whites stripes in a bold pattern on the underside of my nails. My nails are very curved so it was difficult to make the lines look perfect, or maybe I just need some practice. I also added some tiny red rhinestones to spice it up a little….and some seche vite topcoat to help it all dry quickly. I think this is so funky and fun! What do you think of my underside mani? Crazy cool, or just crazy?
Hi y’all! Ready for some holographic goodness for day 17?? I absolutely love my L.A. Girl 3D Effects polishes and I’ve used them 5 times already on my blog. Here comes L.A. Girl holo post # 6 for today’s GRADIENT theme!
I usually do my gradient with a small sliver of sponge and my ‘dabbing’ technique (see my technique here) because I find it clean and effective. But for today’s look I went with the standard gradient technique that I usually see online which is to apply stripes of polish on a full makeup wedge. Even though I applied glue around my nails to help with cleanup- pressing the makeup wedge onto my nails made my cuticles get covered with polish- so I’ll probably switch back to my dabbing technique next time! If you’re interested in the glue I use to help with cleanup you can view my old post here.
Here’s the polishes I used:
Orange ♥ L.A. Girl 3D Effects Electric Coral
Red ♥ L.A. Girl 3D Effects Ruby Sparkle
Black ♥ L.A. Girl 3D Effects Black Illusion

Hey everyone! For DAY 10/METALLIC of the Oh Mon Dieu! Challenge I thought I’d try some fun stuff with magnetic nail polishes. I have a rather good selection of magnetic polishes to choose from. I like to collect them because they’re a fun way to get a cool nail design without having to whip out special tools or techniques.
This mani is something new and different for me- I used two different magnetic polishes! I painted one half of my nails with a green Sinful Colors called Sinfully Magnetic Force Field and used the snakeskin magnet that came with it. Coolest magnet ever! I love the snakeskin effect. Then I painted the other half of my nails with a gorgeous blurple by L.A. Colors Magnetic called Electrostatic. The la girl magnet is hidden in the cap and it wasn’t as impressive as the other brand’s. This one created kitty-corner vertical stripes which aren’t that prominent -but the delicious purple color makes up for it.
I like this double-magnetic look…and they dried fast too! BONUS!
Let’s see what the other girls came up with for today’s theme…..

It’s day 7 of the Oh Mon Dieu! It’s the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge Giveaway! Woot woot! The theme is HOLO so day 7 is all about holographic nail polish. I don’t know why, but I had the darnedest time coming up with a design on my own for this one! So I asked the boyf to pick two colors. He said blueish teal and orange- I think he said it’s Aquaman’s colors or something and he thought it would look summery? IDK. But once I had those two colors picked out then the design just kinda happened… I’m calling it a splash design. I think it came out awesome! I don’t wanna take it off! Can I please wear it a lil longer? Pretty please…..
To start off I’ve got two coats of L.A. Girl Teal Dimension. I cannot say enough good things about these la girl 3D Effects holos! I use them a lot and they are just amazing! The formula on this one was great.. nice and smooth and covered well with two coats. Then I made three orange dots on each nail using a large dotting tool and AVON Orange Creamsicle. I hope y’all don’t mind that I use the same polishes over n over again! Then I took a skinny but stiff nail art brush and dragged down lines of polish in a sweeping motion to make the splashes come to a point. I can’t believe how easy and clean they came out! I hope you like it too! It’s one of my faves designs now. Don’t be surprised if I incorporate more of these splashes into my future nail designs. They would make good flower petals too! ~Long live Aquaman!~

WOW! I am loving this new L.A. Girl textured polish called Sand Blast!! Please excuse my immature slang- but this stuff is the bomb!!!!!!!!!! This pink shade is called Sandals and it may be my new favorite for summer! Shown here is one quick-drying coat. Yup, you heard that right! A textured one-coater that dries fast! I applied one thick coat when I woke up this morning… then showered about a half hour later and got ready for work and I had no issues at all! This is perfect for summertime when we’d rather be out enjoying the sunshine than sitting inside painting our nails forever. Plus, the cool sand blast texture reminds me of the beach and the name Sandals is just so cute. Oooh I should try this on my toes!
So if you follow my blog you may notice some changes today!! Springtime is in full swing in New York and it really motivated me to do some spring cleaning. So for starters, I shortened my nails!! They have been growing like weeds lately and it became hard to type. I have been using a strengthener from Sally Hansen called ‘MAXIMUM GROWTH DAILY NAIL GROWTH PROGRAM‘ as my base coat for about two months now and the results were amazing. No breakages at all for the whole two months and my nails are long, strong and resilient! I’d highly recommend any Sally Hansen product with the word GROWTH in it for you ladies that are wanting to grow your nails longer. That Sally ain’t messing around!! I miss my long nails a bit, but who am I kidding? I guess they’re still pretty long! Is there such a thing as fingernail dysmorphic disorder? If so, I might have that… and I bet I’m not the only one.
I also updated my wordpress theme! I really loved the old one (called Rounded) that I’ve had since I started blogging in Oct 2012. The green, brown and aqua was funky and was just my style! However, my old Rounded theme did not allow me to change my header image. So- out with the old, in with the new. What do you think? I miss the brown and green but hopefully my changes are well-received and that they display well on mobile devices.
As for my new header image- if you google ‘free blog headers’ there’s a lot of graphic designers that offer free stuff on their blogs. Just add your blog name to their jpg header template and you are good to go. There’s so many cool ones- it’s hard to decide on just one ! Don’t be surprised if I change it again.
So what do you think of my changes??? Do you miss the funky brown and green too? Or do you like this new clean design? And does it display any better or worse on your mobile device? Thanks in advance for the input!
Today’s nails are inspired by the cute hippie curtains that I have hanging on my bedroom windows! Here’s a pic of them- they’re batik tie dye panel curtains…
I think I did a good job replicating them! I started with two coats of my L.A. Girl 3D Effects Hologram Nail Polish called Brilliant Blue. Then I sponged on a bit of a black holo from the same collection called Black Illusion and also some NYC called Black Lace Creme. The moons were dotted on with a large dotting tool and some white wet n wild polish. Then I overlapped half of that white dot with a Brilliant Blue dot to make the crescent shape. That was easy! I made the stars with white polish and my smallest dotting tool. I was afraid they’d be difficult, but the tiny head of the dotting tool worked really well to shape the five points of the stars. I added some seche vite topcoat and now I’ve got some awesome galaxy nails! The only thing that would make them cooler is if the moons and stars glowed in the dark!
In March I bought an L.A. Girl polish in rite aid and loved it! Since then I placed an order online and bought a bunch of other cool stuff from them! Well, I’m so happy to finally try out this L.A. Girl French Manicure nail polish! This shade is called Pink Nude and I just love the big clinky bottle and the Eiffel Tower!
I used nail guide stickers and painted my tips with wet n wild French White Crème. I removed the stickers and then applied just one coat of my LA Girl Pink Nude. I probably could’ve done two but I was feeling lazy. It came out really nice- nuthin like a classy french manicure.
But then I woke up the next morning…and I just HAD to spice up my frenchie. I guess I can’t leave well enough alone! So I stamped a fishnet design using my Konad M79 plate and a matte satin polish from Sally Hansen called Bronzed Matte. The stamp came out kinda translucent which looks cool I think. Now that’s more like it!
I think french manicures look beautiful…but always leave me itching to pull out the nail polish remover and do something with more pizazz! It’s this weird ‘I LOVE YOU BUT I WANNA REMOVE YOU’ kinda relationship! LOL! What do you think of them?
