Bold Gradient Dotticure for #NAILLINKUP

It’s the last week of our April NAIL Linkup and the theme is DOTTICURE.   Yes, it is officially May now… but I’m not too late!  This week’s theme goes til May 4th so you have some time to sneak in a dotticure too.

For this nail art I wanted to go bold and bright and mix together some weird colors. Here’s what I used-

♥ Zoya Dove as my grey base color

♥ OPI I Just Can’t Cope-Acabana sponged onto my tips for a gradient

♥ AVON Coral Reef that I dotted on with a dotting tool

 

It’s an unexpected color combination but I like it.  It feels summery and reminds me of beaches and Ron Jon surf gear.  I have no idea why, I dont even know what Ron Jon is really, but it popped in my head!

Mediterranean Gradient for #NAILLINKUP

What I’m wearing:

♥ I used OPI’s My Vampire is Buff as my basecoat

♥ Then I did a gradient using a makeup wedge and a creamy teal called On The Go by Caronia

♥ I stamped over my gradient with Butter London Royal Navy and 4 different full-nail designs from my Bundle Monster BM-404 plate

♥ Lastly I applied quick-dry Seche Vite topcoat over all my nails.  The navy Butter London didn’t smudge at all. 🙂

The idea for this color combo has been swirling around in my head for days… and I see why.   I love how the colors look here!  The cream, teal and navy look perfectly Mediterranean together I think.  I hope you like it too!

Enchanted Polish

A few weeks ago I got my first ever bottles of Enchanted Polish (from nailpolishcanada).  They’re both duochromes.  One is a holo called The Youth (I didn’t know holo duochromes even existed until now!) and a glitter called Hello New York.  I’ve swatched both and also did some gradient nail art with each.  Behold!

THE YOUTH-

The Youth is a light green holo that shifts between mint green, icy blue and sometimes even purple.  Shown here is one base coat, three coats of The Youth, and seche vite topcoat.  It’s gorgeous!

How about some simple nail art with this?  Here’s The Youth with some black China Glaze sponged onto the tips.  The results are a stunning black & holo gradient!

HELLO NEW YORK-

Hello New York is a glitter!  It’s so glam and absolutely shines of gold and green!  I think it’s meant to be a glitter topper but I had to try it on it’s own.  Below is one coat of Essence peel-off base coat, 4 coats of Hello New York and one coat of seche vite topcoat…..

Sometimes it’s yellow and sometimes it’s green.  Here’s two different views of it…

The formula was great on these…I definitely want more Enchanted Polish!  They’re so full of special effects!  Like WOW!  But I heard Enchanted is hard to get your hands on and it sells out quickly.

Nike nails for #NAILLINKUP

It’s week 1 of January Nail Art Ideas Linkup!  The theme is HEALTH & WELLNESS.  Check me out!

When it comes to being healthy I’m a big proponent of exercise.  If I’m trying to lose weight (and when am I NOT trying? lol) I always amp up my fitness routine.  I know it’s hard to get motivated, but you just have to do it.  I totally agree with Nike- JUST DO IT.  Grab your sneakers and get moving.  For me, group fitness classes are the way to go!  Gyms always schedule their classes, so at the start of the week I tell myself which ones I’m planning on attending… and then I feel accountable.  I said I’m going, so I hafta go!

I love the way my pinky and thumb came out.  I’m totally gonna have to try the dots-over-a-gradient-look again!

Day 17 of OMD Challenge- 3D Effects Gradient

Hi y’all! Ready for some holographic goodness for day 17?? I absolutely love my L.A. Girl 3D Effects polishes and I’ve used them 5 times already on my blog. Here comes L.A. Girl holo post # 6 for today’s GRADIENT theme!

I usually do my gradient with a small sliver of sponge and my ‘dabbing’ technique (see my technique here) because I find it clean and effective.  But for today’s look I went with the standard gradient technique that I usually see online which is to apply stripes of polish on a full makeup wedge.  Even though I applied glue around my nails to help with cleanup- pressing the makeup wedge onto my nails made my cuticles get covered with polish- so I’ll probably switch back to my dabbing technique next time!  If you’re interested in the glue I use to help with cleanup you can view my old post here.

Day 9 of the OMD Challenge- Gold Textured Nails

Hey party people!  Ready for my day 9 TEXTURED post for the OMD Challenge?

I’m not going to talk too much today…. I’ll keep it short and sweet.  I had a stressful and busy day at work (what else is new?) and I feel like all I did was clickity clickity click on a keyboard all day!  And then I go home and clickity click some more?  Oh well, at least I have my nail polish to bring me some joy!

OMD Rather Awesome Challenge: Day 3 Purple- Gradient

Welcome to day 3 of the July OMD nail challenge! Today is dedicated to purple- and who doesn’t love purple? When I was a little girl I adored purple- if you asked me what my favorite colors were I’d say PINK PURPLE AND BLUE! So I usually think of purple as being a cute girly color. Buttttt, purple also has an edgy, dark side… and that’s the look I’m going for today!

I started with two easy coats of Color Club Disco Dress.  This purple is so hottt … I just love it!  Then I paired it with a sponged black gradient and some light purple rhinestones… et voila!  I am really enjoying wearing this edgy purple design!  I like how the black tips make the royal purple color pop.  It reminds me of something that Elvira Mistress of the Dark would wear !
