15 minutes to Funky Fingers

Ok, here’s the scenario.  It’s late at night.  You are about to fall asleep but you are trying to catch up on the last few episodes of How I Met Your Mother.  Cuz if you don’t finish watching them then the damn internet will ruin the surprise finale ending for you.  But but but…your nail polish is chipping like mad! And if you don’t paint your nails tonight then all day tomorrow you will be picking at them and they’ll look like ars.  Shows to watch, nails to paint, but you have to get your beauty rest too!  Talk about first world problems!

Since I was so short on time, I came up with this easy 15 minute mani.  I did it during commercials!!  I didn’t quite make it to the finale ending either, so don’t ruin it for me!  I just need to stay away from web browsers for the rest of the day!

15 minute mani funky fingers venom

Here’s how I did this funky 15 minute mani!

  • I started with a base coat of Sally Hansen Maximum Growth.
  • Then I did two coats of my Funky Fingers purple duochrome called Venom.
  • Next I used a black striper polish to make three random brush strokes in the corner of my nails.
  • Then I used OPI’s Push and Shove with a striper brush to make three silver strokes over top of the black ones.
  • For some added bling I dabbed some clear polish and then stuck 4 glequins near the base of each of my brush stroke clusters.
  • Lastly, I finished with a healthy coat of seche vite topcoat.

It’s funny how a quick n dirty mani like this one comes out so cute even though I didn’t plan it out or spend much time on it.  And the seche vite dries so quickly you can do this right before bed and you won’t mess it up while you sleep.  Ah Seche, you’ve changed my life! And I’m never looking back.

So did anyone see the finale of How I met Your Mother?  Don’t ruin the surprise, but was it any good??

Enchanted Polish

enchanted polish

A few weeks ago I got my first ever bottles of Enchanted Polish (from nailpolishcanada).  They’re both duochromes.  One is a holo called The Youth (I didn’t know holo duochromes even existed until now!) and a glitter called Hello New York.  I’ve swatched both and also did some gradient nail art with each.  Behold!

THE YOUTH-

The Youth is a light green holo that shifts between mint green, icy blue and sometimes even purple.  Shown here is one base coat, three coats of The Youth, and seche vite topcoat.  It’s gorgeous!

Here’s The Youth‘s duochrome effects…

How about some simple nail art with this?  Here’s The Youth with some black China Glaze sponged onto the tips.  The results are a stunning black & holo gradient!

HELLO NEW YORK-

Hello New York is a glitter!  It’s so glam and absolutely shines of gold and green!  I think it’s meant to be a glitter topper but I had to try it on it’s own.  Below is one coat of Essence peel-off base coat, 4 coats of Hello New York and one coat of seche vite topcoat…..

Sometimes it’s yellow and sometimes it’s green.  Here’s two different views of it…

Hello New York looks so hot layered over black too!  Check out my simple glitter gradient…

The formula was great on these…I definitely want more Enchanted Polish!  They’re so full of special effects!  Like WOW!  But I heard Enchanted is hard to get your hands on and it sells out quickly.

What do you think of this brand?

#31DC2013- Metallic Nails

I’ve been participating in Chalkboard Nails’ 31 Day Challenge (31DC2013)… but so far I’ve only done every other day.  Normally I like to do a challenge full force and I try to do every single theme… but I’m also running Nail Art Ideas Linkup (NAIL) with Brijit’s Digits and Eeeek! Nail Polish! and tomorrow our SPORTS theme opens up.  So I hope you’ll all forgive me for only doing half of the 31 day challenge days.  😉  I don’t wanna over-do it and lose my spark!

Day 8 of the 31DC2013 is METALLIC and I’m wearing a Sally Hansen Lustre Shine polish called Gilt.  I guess it’s considered a metallic duochrome, but I don’t see too many flashes of color.  Sometimes it leans a little green or a little rose-gold, but mostly it’s just a bronzey gold shade.  I’m glad I got it on clearance for $2.00 because it dries so slow.  Even with seche vite it was still tacky and vulnerable to dings.  After my Lustre Shine was as dry as it would get, I started some nail art by painting a skinny black strip down each nail.  Then I built up the black at the top and bottom of my nails to form a curved shape.  It’s almost like a french mani on the bottom, a halfmoon on the top, with a line connecting them.  I dunno- it’s fun and futuristic looking!  I like to call it a ‘split mani’ and I sorta discovered it when I was working on my Missoni-inspired nails.  This is a design that’s relatively easy to do on both hands too Yippee!  I hope you like my quick n easy metallic split mani!  It sorta reminds me of an hourglass.  Maybe I could try one of those sometime. 🙂
