Nude and Neon Leopard Nails

I’m on a leopard print kick!  So here’s another fun catty mani for you!

If you’d like to see a tutorial, Polish Alcoholic has a nice one here: TUTORIAL.  A year ago I commented on her tutorial that I loved it…  why did it take me so long to try it?  I have no clue!

• I started with a base of Sally Hansen Maximum Growth
• then did two coats of OPI Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around
• then quickly made some pink, blue and green splotches using 3 neon nail lacquers from Cynthia Rowley
• then I outlined the neon dots using a black skinny striper polish from L.A. Colors
• lastly, I finished with a coat of seche vite

Striping Tape Peace Signs

It’s TAPE MANI day in the April Nail Art Challenge.  Striping tape always amazes me!  Every time I use it I’m like WOW- this stuff is great!  It peels off your nail without a problem and what an easy way to get some crisp clean nail art!

I started with a few base coats of my neon green polish by Cynthia Rowley. It’s so bright and green that it really reminded me of Earth Day from earlier in the week.  I taped my nails with some inexpensive striping tape from amazon and it surprisingly didn’t take very long.  Then I topped it off with an awesome teal holo!    This scattered holo is called Teal Dimension from L.A. Girl.  I’ve swatched other holos from that collection here and here. I can’t get enough of this stuff!   Then when I peeled the tape off the neon-it was like POW against the teal!  The whole color combo and the peace sign remind me of Earth, Mother Nature, peace and love.  I hope you like it cuz it was fun for me to wear! Neon Nails

Day 22 of Julie’s Nail Art Challenge is all about neon nails!

For this mani I used 3 of my absolute brightest polishes:

China Glaze ♥ Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

China Glaze ♥ Sun Worshiper

Cynthia Rowley ♥ Un-named Pink

I also sponged some of the colors over each other – just to blend it a little bit.  Maybe that’s why the french tips look more coral than pink.  I can’t believe how bright this is… plus, it was super-quick and easy.  What great no-fuss look for the summer!  I think I’m ready for my vacay now please! 😀

Black n Blue Matte Colorblock

I watch a decent amount of prime-time cable (okay, I watch A LOT of cable) and lately I’ve noticed a definite fashion trend:  almost every leading lady in the last few weeks has worn dark blue and black together!  Personally, I’ve always steered clear of blue and black since the old rule is that ‘navy and black clash’.  But the more I see these two colors together, the more I likey!  This trend inspired me to do a color-block nail design using the following:

♥ one coat of Orly Ridge Filler as a base

♥ two coats of Cynthia Rowley unnamed neon blue polish

♥ a striper brush and Wet n Wild ‘Ebony Hates Chris’ for the black accents

♥ MASH Nails Matte Topcoat – I needed two coats to make it matte since the black Wet n Wild was super-shiny!

Why doesn’t Cynthia name her polishes?  I’ll never understand that!  Well, I’m gonna go ahead and name this neon Shark Week since it’s a vivid dark blue that reminds me of the bottom of the ocean.  The shade really lightens up for the camera so I tried some different lighting conditions to get the blue to stay as true as possible. It’s still way darker in real life… but c’est la vie!

I have heard that Cynthia Rowley nail color is hard to find.  Luckily, I received a three pack set from my lovely sister for Christmas!  In case you’re trying to get your hands on some in the US… I think she found it at Marshall’s Department Store.

Post-christmas excitement!

Of course Christmas is all about the birth of Jesus and spending time with loved ones.  But I can’t help but be super-excited about all of my nail polish gifts that I received from my family!  I feel like a little kid- I woke up this morning psyched to play with my toys!  Here’s a pic of the stash I received.  I don’t know what color to use first!
