Brijits Digits- Rasbie Cosmo Indie Polish

Today I’m sharing a gorgeous hand made nail polish that was gifted to me by Brijit.  One of the cool things about being friends with the owner of Brijits Digits Boutique?  Sometimes I get to try out the goods!  Thanks girl!  I love this nail polish.  Check it out….

rasbie cosmo

This is a gorgeous raspberry color called Rasbie Cosmo.  It has a deep sangria tint to it, but when the light hits it you see flashes of blue shimmer. Shown in these pics is one base coat, three coats of Rasbie Cosmo and one coat of seche vite.  It looks very luxurious and shiny to me.  I have received many compliments on it so far at the office.

As you know, I love wearing nail art.  But what you may not know, is that I oftentimes forgo the crazy designs and pick one beautiful polish to wear on its own for a good chunk of my work week.  Rasbie Cosmo fits the bill perfectly for that.  Raspberry is a nice traditional color for nails, so I won’t get sideways glances in the elevator at work (like if I wore green or blue nails).  But the shiny glassy finish and blue shimmer make this shade seem special somehow.  It’s office-appropriate,  but it’s anything but boring!  Here’s her Etsy listing for Rasbie Cosmo if you are interested.

Brijit really has a knack for making classy and sophisticated indies.  Oh and did you see her pointy fake nails with leopard print (listing is here)?  They look just like my nails!! I’d like to think I was the inspiration for these pointies. Hehe. Was I, Brij???

Red nail polish from Brijits Digits for #NAILLINKUP

Week one of the February N.A.I.L. Linkup is all about RED.  Well, I have a gorgeous red indie from Brijits Digits Boutique!  This one is called Yowl and it’s a semi-matte.  You may have seen it before when I wore it with topcoat to make it high gloss (here on my facebook page), but this time I’m wearing Yowl in all it’s glorious semi-matteness….

yowl brijits digitsShown here is three coats of Yowl without topcoat.  It has a semi-matte finish so you can see how silky it is.  I love how the light just skims over the surface of the polish and gives it a softened glow.  It dries fast too!

yowl semi matteYowl would be described as brick or burnt red but it also has a secret shimmer which is so pretty up close….

Now on to the nail art segment of this post 😉 !!  I went for something super simple since I haven’t been groovin’ on complicated nail art lately.  I wanna keep it quick and easy today.  So for this next design I used a black skinny striper polish from L.A. Colors to make little hearts.  I also did some tiny dots on my accent nail which look so 3D & textured against the smooth finish of the polish.

Yowl is such a great polish…. it’s actually part of Brijit’s semi-matte collection.  She has 4 in total listed here-

Stone Circle dark blue-ish grey cream

Soft Grey pale grey cream

February NAILLINKUPI’m loving red nails for February!  Are you?

I hope I see more red for the NAIL LINKUP.  Here are the inlinkz…

Early Christmas Prezzies for Crafty!

Here’s a couple stocking stuffers that I got from my boss.  She knows me so well!

This Miracle Birth Control Gum cracks me up!

Here’s a bottle of hand-blended Brijits Digits polish from my good friend Brijit! It’s a semi-matte brick red called Yowl.  It’s formulated to have a rubberized finish, but topcoat transforms it to super duper glossy!  Here’s two coats of Yowl with one coat of seche vite on top…

YOWL

And here I am modeling Yowl with my new fingerless gloves.  These gloves were a gift to myself!  They have silver studs attached to the tops of them so I couldn’t resist.  They will keep my hands warm while I’m kicking around my chilly house and I can even paint my nails while wearing them.  🙂  Perfect!

I usually end up buying myself stuff when I’m supposed to be shopping for others.  Strange how that always seems to happen.  😉

Did you get any early Christmas presents? Do tell!

Movember Nails for #naillinkup

It’s Movember, the month dedicated to growing your moustache for prostate & testicular cancer awareness!  I’m a supporter of movember, are you?  And I think moustaches are sexy!  If you like your men with facial hair then check out this gallery of ‘stached men who support the cause: MO PHOTOS.

My nails even got in the spirit this month- let’s see my Movember nail design for the N.A.I.L. Linkup!

I free-handed my 2 moustaches and then stamped my other nails.  I didn’t paint a moustache on each of my fingers because that would be pushing my luck!  I was happy to get two nice looking ‘staches on my left and 2 on my right…. so that’s good enough for me!  Quit while you’re ahead.  🙂

Here’s what I’m wearing-

♥ Sally Hansen Maximum Growth as my basecoat – one coat

♥ Brijits Digits Annie Laurie silver polish – three coats

♥ Zoya Ginessa – sponged onto my tips for a slight gradient effect

♥ China Glaze Liquid Leather – black polish used for moustaches and stamping

♥ Konad M79 plate for my dotted stamp design – on pinky and pointer fingers

♥ Cheeky CH55 plate for my necktie stamped design – on my thumb

♥ Seche Vite topcoat

Do you ever finish some nail art and feel this serious vibe that if you topcoat it you will ruin it and make the design bleed?  I was totally feeling that vibe with this mani… so I slathered on the seche vite very heavily so that the brush wouldn’t drag across my designs.  In doing this I wound up applying way too much topcoat.  Oh well!  At least there was no bleeding!  🙂

I can’t wait to see the other moustaches for the November Nail Art Ideas Linkup!  Please join in- here are the details!

Solar Eclipse Nails for #NAILLINKUP

Did you see the solar eclipse this morning?  I missed it!  We had daylight savings in the U.S. this morning too, which gave me an excuse to sleep in wayyy later than normal.  🙂

After deciding to make SOLAR ECLIPSE one of our themes for the November NAIL Linkup– this idea came to me rather quickly!  It’s an easy design too, which is always nice when you’re trying to squeeze nail challenges into your busy life schedule.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Each nail shows the different phases of the sun during an eclipse!  I did imagine the design different in my head though.  I’m surprised I was only able to fit 3 suns on each nail.  I imagined it with at least four suns, but oh well.  I need to face the fact that I don’t have long nails anymore!  lol

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This manicure was simple simple simple!   I started with 2 coats of Brigits Digits called Witching Hour, a nice dark vampy holographic maroon color.  I just tried it out recently, but I’ve really been itching to wear it again since 1-Fall is great for deep mysterious colors like this and 2- now that my nails are shaped different I’m finding that I love to play with darker colors!  After my Witching Hour was in place I did 3 orange dots on each nail using AVON Creamsicle.  You may have noticed that I use that orange all the time, but for reals–AVON cream polishes are perfect for nail art!  To make the orange dots look like eclipses I just overlapped another dot over top using Witching Hour to partially cover the suns.  So basically, each nail has five dots on it.  How easy is that?

I enjoyed this look for a day, then I wanted to try mattifying it.  Matte topcoat makes holos look cool!  It brings out all the little flecks hidden in there!

I hope to see some fun SOLAR ECLIPSE manis as part of the Nail Art Ideas Linkup.  There’s so much room for interpretation with this one.  You could do suns, moons, galaxies, skies… whatever strikes your fancy!  Here are the other SOLAR ECLIPSE manis in the collection:

Double-stamped nails!

Hey ya’ll- I’m over here having fun with my new MoYou plates! I reviewed one of their plates and stampers in my last post, and I had to pull them out again for more stamping fun. This time, I had double fun! Have you ever tried stamping the same image onto your nails TWICE? Well, that’s what I did and the results look wicked! Check it out!
moyou plate mani

For this look I am wearing a basecoat, three coats of Blue Flame from Brijits Digits Boutique and seche vite topcoat.  I wore this beautiful blue polish for three days (no chips!) until I decided to spice it up with some double stamping effect!  On day number four I stamped a shimmery white polish called Ginessa by Zoya using my MoYou London Pro Plate 5 XL stamping plate.  Then I used that same plate but stamped China Glaze Liquid Leather (black) over top of that.  The designs didn’t match up, which makes it look cooler I think.  I like how they overlap!  It sorta looks like the bottom of a swimming pool. 🙂

Wanna see what Brijit’s Blue Flame polish looks like before I stamped over it?  It has a lovely jelly quality to it and it’s bluer than blue.  I love how blue it is!  It took three coats to get to this opacity and so far I am very happy with it’s durability.  I’m on day four with no chips yet!  Look at what a live wire this polish is! Yowzer!!!!!!

Blue Flame is on clearance now at Brijit’s Etsy shop!

Have you ever tried double stamping?  If not, do it to it!

Thermal Polish from Brijits Digits Boutique

Today I’m showing you another cool indie polish from Brijits Digits Boutique.  This one’s a thermal color-changing polish called Orchis des Marais.  It’s a special polish with a fancy french name, ooh la la!  I hafta say, this is the most fun that I’ve had with a polish in a really long time!  Take a look at it and you’ll see what I mean…

orchis-des-marais-thermal

Shown here is one basecoat of Sally Hansen Maximum Growth, two coats of Orchis des Marais and one coat of Seche Vite.  If you apply thin coats then you may want three coats of the thermal, but two did the trick for me.  It appeared violet when I first applied it but shortly after it started turning pink.  On the right-hand side of my photo collage you can see all the blue shimmer in there too- just gorgeous!  Orchis des Marais dries quickly and has a nice finish.  Thermals have a tendency to be matte and dull so I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Here’s a pic of Orchis des Marais when I first woke up in the morning and my hands were cold as ice.  We haven’t turned the heat on yet this season.  Brrrrr!  ↓

brijits-digits

And here’s a shot of my nails after a nice hot shower.  They’re bubblegum pink now and the tips are quickly starting to cool off as you can see.  ↓

orchis-des-marais_brijits-digits

Throughout most of the day my nails were a pretty gradient that started out pink and got more purple towards the tips.  They did change very easily too.  If you hold a cold drink you’ll see them shift right away.  Or if you get a droplet of water on your nail you’ll see a perfect little purple circle appear!  So much fun!  All day long I kept looking down- ooh I’m cold, oooh now I’m hot!  Also, I noticed that my right-hand middle finger was strangely cold and purple most of the time.  The weird thing is, that nail breaks all the time too.  It’s my one problem nail.  Maybe my chi doesn’t flow well in that finger?  LOL  You can see in the top left photo of my collage that it’s more purple than the rest!  What’s up with that?

Overall, I’m thrilled with this polish.  I need more.  In every color.

If you’re looking for a heat-activated polish you can find Orchis des Marais on Etsy at Brijits Digits Boutique.

What do you think of color-changing polishes like this one?
