I recently received the 6 piece Zoya Zenith collection from nailpolishcanada.com. One of the clear winners of the bunch is the scattered dark blue scattered holo called Dream. It’s stunning, but yet it kind of reminds me of another polish that I’ve had for about a year now. Could Zoya Dream be a dupe of last year’s L.A. Girl Brilliant Blue (old swatch found here)? Let’s look!

Can you tell the difference? Honestly, I cannot. I asked my boyfriend (he has a trained artist’s eye) and he thought that Zoya looked more green in the bottle, while the L.A. Girl looked more purple. But once I got them on the nail I could not tell them apart. He agreed.
I’m wearing no base coat, two coats of blue, and no topcoat. I’ve seen other bloggers say they needed three coats of Zoya Dream, but I definitely only needed two. Same with the L.A. Girl-two coats does the trick. The formulas on both are very similar, but if I had to pick my favorite I’d choose the L.A. Girl. But I’m partial to bigger brushes, so I found application easier with that one.

Wow! Those are dupes for sure!! I’ve only worn Dream once, but I’m sure it’ll be a year ’round favorite for me! I love blue polish and I love Zoya’s holographics (I *love* Storm). I’m with you, it only took 2 coats for me, too!

i have the purple LA girl holo as well, and its the reason I never bought Aurora (by zoya). I really wanted the black one but it was gone from rite aid by the time I went to get it…so I got Zoya Storm instead haha. That whole line of polishes was just stunning!
gah! as it turns out I have Teal Dimension but not Brilliant Blue! I am SOOOO not placing an order for just one polish. But that is stunning!

Brilliant Blue is one of my favorites. I also have Black Illusion and the purple version. I would wear them everyday except I am afraid of using them up.

I think so, I get a lot of compliments on it. I think there is a post on my site of it (la girl goes to Richmond or something like that). It doesn’t photograph that well though on my phone.

Oh man… I spent ages happily picking out polishes I wanted to order on cherryculture, only to find they want to charge me $90 for the CHEAPEST shipping option 😦 So still no China Glaze for me… and even though we have LA Girl here, I missed the 3D effects! Grrr 😦

I think it might be cheaper if you only order a couple of bottles, I’m not sure though. Yeah, Tip Top is South African 🙂 so at least that’s one good/cheap brand we have! They need to expand their range though! 🙂
