More Blasted Nails! *now with pink!

Yesterday’s blue crackle manicure was a lot of fun for me to wear and I loved it! So I took it off and did another.  (Yup, this only makes sense to those of us who are obsessed.  Because a normal person would KEEP their manicure on if they loved it.) But, I digress…..

Two manicures in a row using the same blue polish? That’s right! Out of all my ‘special’ nail polishes, this previously-untried electric blue crackle is a surprise favorite.  I love when a nail polish comes outta nowhere and knocks your socks off!

pink and blue crackle

This time I started with a hot pink base color.  This is hot pink is hotter than hot and I love it.  It’s Zoya Ali.  Then I added my crackle- Electric Blue Blasted from Sephora by OPI.  Except for my 2 ring finger accent nails which I painted off-white using OPI My Vampire is Buff.  Then I added a butterfly wing diy decal that I made.  How did I make the decal?  I used my MoYou Pro stamping plate and… ummmm… well, I’m sure I’ve explained it a bunch of times before!  I really should just do a tutorial so I can just insert da link !  For now- here’s Indian Ocean Polish’s tutorial which is great!

Here’s a side by side comparison of yesterday’s and today’s blasted nails.  One blue nail polish, two looks.  It’s funny that the pics came out almost identical and I didn’t plan it.  Which do you like better- the orange or pink mani?  I’m not the biggest fan of how mix-match manis look on me sometimes… so I’m leaning towards the orange.  But dang, that hot pink!!!  What do you think?

Blue Blasted Nails

 blue crackle nails

Check out my blue crackle nails!  I’m wearing my most-used nail polish my base- AVON Orange Creamsicle.  I can’t even count the number of times I’ve used this orange for nail art on this blog.  Then I topped it with a thin coat of Sephora by OPI’s crackle nail polish (they call their crackle line BLASTED) in Electric Blue Blasted.  The blue and orange combo looks rad together!  I’m also very impressed with the formula of sephora’s blasted.  It’s not as thick and clumpy as other brands and application was easy.  I also love the way it crackled.  Win!  Now I’m wondering what other colors to pair under this blue.  What do you think would look nice?  A light purple maybe?

Shine On Award and an epic nail fail.

Doctor Crafty and DUDE IT’S PRIMARNI both nominated me for the SHINE ON Award.  Thank you so much ladies!  The cool thing about receiving awards is that you also get to GIVE them!  I’m happy to nominate some blogs which I think always have unique and fresh content!

I’m also throwing in a nail fail just for fun!  Can you say hot mess?

Here are the ‘Shine On’ Award rules:

1. Display the award logo to your blog
2. Show appreciation by acknowledging the blogger who nominated you and link back to them in your post
3. Share 7 random, interesting things about yourself
4. Nominate 15 bloggers you admire and would like to pass this award to (making sure to link to their blog in your post)
5. Contact your chosen bloggers to let them know

Here’s seven random facts about me..

  1. I can’t stop thinking about the OPI Brazil collection. Like everyday I think about it!  I really want that yellow called I Can’t Cope-acabana.  There’s a store a half hour from me that sells OPIs really cheap but I haven’t made it there yet with all the snow and everything.  I also want OPI Black Onyx because I love the OPI brush and I think that black would be a great base for nail art.
  2. I hope to get married and prego in 2014.  Wish me luck everybody!
  3. There’s so much money in the world and I want some more of it please.  kthx.
  4. It annoys me when people don’t follow rules.  You think you are special?  You are not.  Ok, that sounds mean,  but really… rules are made for a reason!
  5. The hardest part of blogging for me (other than photos) is putting my thoughts to the keyboard.  I have all these ideas in my head but when I start typing it goes blechagghhduhyuksheesh!
  6. I never really feel tired.  It’s the weirdest thing.  The only time I’m tired is late at night when I’m dozing off or if I take Benadryl.  I also cannot fall sleep on an airplane.  I really envy those people that sleep during the whole flight!
  7. I don’t check my cell phone that often.  If you wanna get a hold of me then you should email me, not text me.  My cellular device is lame, and it feels like my nails will crack from the pressure on the little keyboard.  #firstworldproblems

Now’s my chance to give props to a few blogs that I read regularly.  These bloggers personalities’ and style really shine through in their blog.  So here are my nominees for the Shine On award.  <They are in complete and utter random order>

  1. rexxx did it
  2. Lady Lacquer
  3. My Faves Journal
  4. The Nailinator
  5. The Polish Playground
  6. SEIZETHENAIL
  7. Vic and Her Nails
  8. The Adorned Claw
  9. NailsLikeLace
  10. Break rules, not nails
  11. The Bookish Manicurist
  12. For The Love of Nail Art
  13. K’s Nail Art
  14. Druid Nails
  15. Be Happy and Buy Polish
  16. Finger Candy
  17. Life’s Glitz Pageant

Ok, so I picked 17 instead of 15.  It’s way too hard to pick only 15.  I read a lot of great blogs, people!  I hope you like my list and maybe you can find a new fave blog to follow!

Now for the epic nail fail! This manicure sucks… but I think I should get an A for effort.  It took me a long time to make it this hideous!  The sad thing is, the silver and purple zoya gradient was gorgeous before I screwed it up with a black nail art pen.  Oh well!

Mediterranean Gradient for #NAILLINKUP

mediterranean gradient

What I’m wearing:

♥ I used OPI’s My Vampire is Buff as my basecoat

♥ Then I did a gradient using a makeup wedge and a creamy teal called On The Go by Caronia

♥ I stamped over my gradient with Butter London Royal Navy and 4 different full-nail designs from my Bundle Monster BM-404 plate

♥ Lastly I applied quick-dry Seche Vite topcoat over all my nails.  The navy Butter London didn’t smudge at all. 🙂

February NAILLINKUPThe idea for this color combo has been swirling around in my head for days… and I see why.   I love how the colors look here!  The cream, teal and navy look perfectly Mediterranean together I think.  I hope you like it too!

Don’t forget to check out all the other entries for N.A.I.L.‘S  gradient theme!  And feel free to join in since the inlinkz are open for the whole month of February!

Hidden Hearts Underside Mani

Hey y’all!  My nails are pretty long at the moment so I thought why not do another one of my ‘underside’ manis!  I’m shocked at how long they got considering about a month ago I did a review of Duri Rejuvacote and it broke a bunch of my nails.  I had to file them down and I lost some length.  But then I started using my old bottle of nail hardener by Sally Hansen and that has helped a lot.  Plus, my nails have been protected by my Incoco nail strips for a while so they’ve been pretty healthy.  Fingers crossed!  Pssst- Don’t miss my Incoco giveaway that runs til March 1st 2014– you can tweet everyday for extra chances to win!

red heart underside mani by Craftynail

For this underside mani I’m wearing Incoco french tips in Giftwrapped Tips, and then I painted the underside with a mini bottle of red Sample Sale by sephora by opi.  Then I made the underside shiny with some seche vite topcoat and I stuck some heart-shaped rhinestones under there.  I like that they’re ‘hidden hearts’ that don’t really show since they’re tucked under my nails.  It’s kinda like a sexy secret!

My other underside manis can be seen on my Gallery page.  Have a great day!

Nail Art Earrings part deux

IMG_2892_Fotor

I have my second pair of nail art earrings to show you!  The first one is here.  For this pair I used some little wooden pendants that my dad cut for me to use as earrings.  They are rectangle and circle shapes and he drilled tiny holes for the earring clasps. He sanded them, but I also used a nail file to smooth some of the corners.  Then I grabbed my nail polish and started decorating them!

butter london earrings

I painted the wooden squares with black wet n wild nail polish called Ebony Hates Chris.  Then I stamped the rectangles using blue Keks by Butter London along with my MoYou Pro Collection 04 stamp.  The squishy stamper kinda went wooooosh sideways… you can see my stamps are a little off-center.  😦 But still, I love how the Butter London stamps over the black.  I tried this combo one time before when I reviewed some MoYou London items.  It looked wicked, but you couldn’t really tell since it was only on my thumbs.  (here’s a pic! check out my thumb!)  I just knew I had to try that black n blue combo again.  So I did. I also added a few rhinestones to my earrings that I stuck on with clear nail polish.   Lastly, I attached some fishhook earring clasps, and there ya have it.  My Butter London Earrings.

Thank for stopping by and I hope to see you tomorrow. I have a new underside mani to show you!  Then later this weekend I’ve got a gradient for our Nail Art Ideas Linkup.  Ta-ta!
