The stars are out this new years eve!

Here’s a super quick post of my new years nails.  I used nails inc magnetic polish called The Strand.

I put a glitter star in the center of each magnetic burst!

I’ve included a shot of the package of glitter I purchased at Michael’s craft store.  Much more affordable than buying it at a beauty supply store.

$1.49 at a craft store!

Happy New Years everyone!  I’m heading out to celebrate! now.  See you in 2013!

Award! Pour moi?

Wow…I have been nominated by Mommy Loves Nail Polish for the Blog of the Year Award 2012!  Thanks brooklinmommy!  I’m pretty new at blogging so this is very exciting and gives me the motivation to keep up with my posts!

Blog of the Year Award banner

I would like to take this opportunity to nominate a few blogs that I adore–

  • brooklinmommy at Mommy Loves Nail Polish: Her blog is so fun.  “Mommy Loves Nail Polish and other random things my kids know about me!” What a great tagline!
  • Danette at No Bottle Left Behind: I recently got hooked on Danette’s blog during the Holiday Nail Art Challenge.  This girl created some beautiful festive designs!
  • Anna at Compass & Quill: Anna is an internet-savvy blogger from N’orleans and she’s all about origami and crafts, pets, photography and any other fun stuff you can think of!

I’m so glad I started blogging in oct 2012!  It’s much more fun to share my nails with people who actually care about nails.  Before wordpress I felt like the only one in my universe to give a dang about my pretty manicures.  Now I can post my pics here and share them with like-minded people.  I also have some blog friends who aren’t completely obsessed with polish- but they must enjoy looking at my pretty nail pics once in a while- so that’s cool!  Thanks to everyone for reading!  I’m excited to be nominated for the Blog of the Year 2012 and I can’t wait to see what 2013 has in store for craftynail!!

Sparkling Personality

Sephora by OPI – Sparkling Personality from the Betsey Johnson collection

I love waking up to find snow on the ground!  Now it really feels like the holiday season in NY !  That inspired me to do a wintery design. I’m calling this mani SPARKLING LEG-WARMERS!  I used two Sephora by OPI polishes- Sparkling Personality and Break A Leg-Warmer. (It’s kinda fun to name your manicures, don’t ya think?)

Break A Leg-Warmer

I taped off my nail using little pieces of blue painters tape.  It worked pretty well!  If you’ve never tried it before- you should experiment with some!  Its really easy to work with and peels off like a dream.

I’m groovin on the color combo- I like how the grey base color really showcases the different pigments of the glitter.

Now that I’m done beautifying myself- I might go outside and shovel.  What would a mani be without a few well-earned dents and smooshes?!

Post-christmas excitement!

Of course Christmas is all about the birth of Jesus and spending time with loved ones.  But I can’t help but be super-excited about all of my nail polish gifts that I received from my family!  I feel like a little kid- I woke up this morning psyched to play with my toys!  Here’s a pic of the stash I received.  I don’t know what color to use first!

The Christmas Tag

I have been Christmas tagged by my friends Luchessa and Danette!  If you are *lucky enough to be tagged as well…. you can copy and paste the 10 questions below and re-post with your own answers (and don’t forget to tag someone else).

1 Which holiday do you celebrate?

I celebrate Christmas!  It’s the best time of the year!

2 What are you doing for the holidays this year?

I will start by sayin- I have 11 whole days off from work! YIPPEE!!  For Christmas I will bake a ham for my parents, visit my sister’s family, and also travel to Vermont to visit my boyfriend’s family. (Not all on the same day!)

3 What’s your favorite holiday drink?

Chai tea or latte.  Warm and spicy!

chai

4 Candy cane or Gingerbread men?

Gingerbread men I suppose.  I would much rather have something chocolatey though! lol

5 What’s your favorite holiday/Christmas song?

Do They Know It’s Christmas? By Band-Aid.  That song totally brings me back to my childhood.  I love how every famous artist from the 80’s is in that video.

BandAid

6 What’s the weirdest gift you’ve ever received?

A salad spinner.  And I asked for it.  My sister-in-law is like, “That’s it? You don’t want me to get you anything else for Christmas?”  NOPE- Just the spinner!  And I LOVE it!  Haven’t stopped using it since I got it.

OXO

7 Have you ever made a snowman?

Absolutely!! I plan to make one this year too.  It hasn’t snowed in NY yet, but when it does I will definitely be in my backyard sledding and throwing snowballs.

8 What is your favorite winter fragrance?

Yankee Candle Christmas Wreath

9 What is at the top of your list this Christmas?

This pretty pink n orange sporty jacket from lands end.  I need a new winter coat!

LANDSEND

10 What is most important to you about the holidays?

Having some time off to decompress from work, and the chance to spend time with family.  The holidays really help bring some perspective about what’s important in my life.   Then when I return to back to work after the new year I will be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed !

THAT’S ALL FOLKS!!  Merry Christmas everyone- I hope you have a blessed holiday!

Oh and per the rules, I have tagged some fellow bloggers.  It’s a busy time of year, so if any of the following bloggers don’t respond to the tag, you honestly will not hurt my feelings at all!  And no worries… you won’t have bad luck for 7 years or anything crazy like that either.  Here’s who I tagged:

Cool AVON products and Ruby Slipper polish

Let’s talk about AVON.  I have been using AVON products since I was a wee lass!  The catalogs are jam-packed with cool new products and they’re cheap!  Recently I have noticed that AVON has jumped on the nail art bandwagon and I couldn’t be happier.  I’m not sure why we don’t see more blog posts about avon products!?! Especially since they have a lot of cool new stuff like…

Nail Glitter in Iridescent or Brilliant Chrome-

Avon Nail Glitter

Avon Nail Glitter

Crackle polish called Mosaic Effects Top Coat in 9 different colors-

They also have a polish on their website called Change Artist Transforming Nail Color.  WOW what’s that all about??   The description says ‘Dual-ended package includes base color on one side and clear transforming top coat on the other’.  Man, I really hope my mom got me some AVON for Christmas!!

One last pic to share- here’s a pic of a holiday mani I did using Avon NAILWEAR PRO+ in Ruby Slipper.  I’m not usually a big fan of red polish… but Ruby Slipper is my cup of tea… it’s so pretty and shimmery!  I wore it by itself for a few days before I decided to jazz it up with some festive green n white.
